A healthy heart
Each year 39 percent of people die from heart-related diseases. The three main factors in heart health are cholesterol, blood pressure, and inflammation.
First of all let me quickly go over how a heart attack occurs. Our cells, including arteries, are being attacked by free radicals a hundred thousand times a day. These free radicals begin to damage the walls of your arteries. Our body has an amazing way of protecting our arteries, and it’s called cholesterol. Our liver turns fats from our diet into cholesterol, which, in turn, sticks to our artery walls. This is to help protect them from free radical damage. Over time, that cholesterol lining turns into plaque and begins to clog the arteries.
Now comes the real killer - inflammation. The cholesterol lining within your arteries can become inflamed, kind of like an infection in your skin, turning red and angry. Because the arteries have become narrower due to the buildup of plaque, the pressure increases as the same amount of blood is trying to move through and travel throughout your body - hence increased blood pressure. The increased pressure along with the unstable inflamed cholesterol plaque is like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
It’s estimated that 80 percent of heart attacks occur when the cholesterol bursts under pressure leaving a tiny lesion. Your red blood cells urgently do their job clotting over this breach and making a scab, thus you now have a clogged artery and bingo, this is a heart attack.
It’s scary I know... So what can you do to prevent heart disease?
Studies have shown:
Eating a more plant-based Mediterranean diet and eliminating food that causes inflammation to the body is beneficial to avoid heart disease.
Avoid the three white poisons which are inflammatory - white flour, white sugar, and white salt, as well as fried foods.
Exercise daily keeping your heart strong and healthy
Hydrate with 2-3 litres of water every day keeping your blood thin and tissues hydrated
Eat eight to twelve servings of fruit and vegetables to maintain a high antioxidant level. Antioxidants help prevent oxidation of your cholesterol.
Supplement with high-quality antioxidants and fish oils which reduce inflammation in your arteries.
I can highly recommend the following supplements to support heart health enhancing a healthy lifestyle and a good diet.

Additionally you may choose to add Optimum Omega, is one of the best anti-inflammatory supplements you can take and is made of very high-quality fish oil. The omega-3 oils are extremely important, and unfortunately, the average diet is getting only 20 percent of what is required. Optimum Omega is guaranteed pure and free from heavy metals which are commonly found in fish and other fish oil supplements tested.
Note: Many clients tell us they are using flaxseed oil. Unfortunately this is not effective for heart health as it lacks essential fatty acids EPA and DHA that are beneficial to heart health.
Did you know?
More than a hundred thousand scientific studies have been published on the health benefits of fish and fish oil (Medline 1966-2004). From helping to balance the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response to supporting brain and cardiovascular functions, omega-3s have been widely proven in the scientific community.
